The International Welsh Poetry Competition Anthology - The Final Cut

The International Welsh Poetry Competition organisers have just published their fourth and final anthology of 100 winning poems.

‘This anthology has poems by some fantastic writers from all corners of the globe, including Gill Learner, Kerry Rawlinson, Gareth Alun Roberts, Jenny McRobert, Sue Davies, Jennifer Hetherington, Mark Lewis, Paul Hawkes, Mara Adamtz Scrupe, John Gallas, Deborah Miller, Partridge Boswell, Michael W Thomas, Emma Williams, and many more. This is a superb collection of modern cutting-edge verse that should sit comfortably on most bookshelves!’ said Dave Lewis, editor of the anthology.

The competition, which has been running since March 2007, has seen thousands of entries and has been lucky enough to have had some amazing writers as judges over the years, including Mick Evans, Mike Jenkins, Eloise Williams, Sally Spedding and Kathy Miles.

Dave Lewis added, ‘After twenty years of unearthing extraordinary poetic talent, we are hanging up our boots. This year was our last contest, and this anthology of winners from the last five years of the competition is a celebration of all we’ve achieved. Along with our three previous anthologies, this collection highlights the great poetic tradition that exists in Wales and beyond, and we leave you feeling proud that poetry now is in a far healthier place than when we started.’
